NEW ORLEANS HAS PLENTY OF
RELIABLE HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS
Currently at its Magazine Street location, Planned Parenthood does not perform abortions in New Orleans. It refers its clients to other abortion facilities in the greater New Orleans area. However, Planned Parenthood plans to perform abortions at its proposed location on Claiborne Ave. As our facts page has shown, abortion is an integral portion of Planned Parenthood's business, and more Planned Parenthood will lead to more abortion.
With this in mind, it is accurate that Planned Parenthood does provides services other than abortion. However, the chart below shows that every service that Planned Parenthood could offer (based on Planned Parenthood's national list of services) at its Claiborne Ave. facility is readily available at both public and private facilities in the greater New Orleans area.
New Orleans faces many health related issues, as Planned Parenthood will stress. However, the solution is to effectively communicate the services already available in the community, instead of spending needed funds to build a regional abortion center in New Orleans. The NOLA Needs Peace Coalition is working with groups and the state to make sure community health centers are more available to the public.
